Something *very* exciting arrived at Made in Minch head quarters over the weekend….
some beautifully wrapped birthday presents Jen had ordered from
WALLPAPER ROSE!

We’d like to welcome our friend and local lass, Louise, to our Made in Minch Blog.
Lovely Louise is a very creative soul, sharing her impeccable taste in fashion, snippets of lifestyle and her beautiful handmade jewellery.

We were lucky enough to pin her down for a quick chatter 🙂

Well, hello there Miss Louise,
Please can you tell us a little about your venture at Wallpaper Rose?
I began Wallpaper Rose in 2009 in the summer after my second year of University. That summer I was finding it particularly difficult to find work and I wanted a creative outlet separate to my degree work.

How did you get established?
Predominantly through social media – Facebook and my Blog.

Have you been featured anywhere?
Wallpaper Rose has been featured on a number of blogs, which is always exciting, but a particular highlight was having my Jen Tees featured on Domestic Sluttery – I couldn’t quite believe it!

What is your favourite item in your shop?

At the moment, my Zooey Lace Collar. (I have a bit of a thing for collars…and Zooey Deschanel!)

What is your favourite jewellery making technique/material?
I’m not sure I really have a particular favourite technique, but I predominantly work with charms and chain.

Is there a new crafting technique that you’d like to try out?
I would absolutely love to have a go at silversmithing and to try using porcelain and enamel.

Do you have a failsafe item from your own wardrobe which is a fashion fix-all?
I have a tendency to live in jeans, boots and knitwear with collars – not terribly exciting I’m afraid.

What do you think are the trends to look out for this season?
Probably pastels and metallics. I think print clashing is still big – but I’m just not sure how I feel about it!

Who is your style icon?

Zooey Deschanel. She always looks incredible.

Any up and coming daily blog reads you’d like to share?
I follow an awful lot of blogs but these are a few of my current favourites:

http://wishwishwish.net/
http://harrietgray.blogspot.com/
http://www.mademoisellerobot.com/
http://little-fille.blogspot.com/
http://blog.cellardoormagazine.co.uk/
http://nadinoo.blogspot.com/
http://hollyexley.blogspot.com/
http://www.louderthansilence.com/
I’m always looking for new and exciting blogs to follow.

Finally, what do you love about your life in Minchinhampton?
I’m afraid I don’t actually live in Minchinhampton anymore – I moved to London a year or so ago. However, the best things about Minchinhampton for me are my family, my cats, the cows and the common. There aren’t many places you can genuinely give the excuse ‘the cows were in the road’ for being late and for it to be true!

Thank you so much , wishing Wallpaper Rose every success!

  1. It’s lovely to see you featuring Wallpaper Rose – the jewellery and gifts are very special, made even more so by the wrapping and presentation as you mentioned – Louise is very tallented but I’m biased, with good cause! She may not live in Minchinhampton any more but she’ll always be a Minchinhampton girl!! Good luck to you both with your new venture, With regards, Frances.

Thanks for popping by, dont be shy please say Hi! We always love reading your comments :)
